The Work Behind the Badge
The mission of the Azusa Police Department wouldn’t be possible without the essential work of the Support Services team. These behind-the-scenes professionals handle everything from records and evidence to emergency planning and non-emergency response, ensuring that officers, investigators, and the community are fully supported. While their roles may not always be visible to the public, their impact is felt in nearly every part of department operations.

Public Records, Organized and Accessible
The Records Bureau is responsible for maintaining, processing, and safeguarding thousands of police records each year. Staffed by highly trained Record Specialists, this unit assists both the public and department personnel with everything from police reports and citations to restraining orders and field interviews. Specialists must be well-versed in the Public Records Act and departmental procedures, as they handle complex requests and ensure records are accurate, timely, and secure.
These specialists also prepare court-related documents, manage legal filings, and input data into specialized databases. Their work supports major investigations by tracking trends, maintaining historical records, and helping law enforcement quickly access critical case information.
On Scene. On Duty. Supporting Officers and the Public
Community Service Officers (CSOs) are non-sworn staff who play a direct role in public safety. They respond to non-hazardous service calls—such as petty theft, recovered property, or minor traffic collisions—and often assist at crime scenes by managing traffic and documenting evidence. Their presence allows sworn officers to remain focused on higher-priority investigations and emergency response.
CSOs also enforce parking regulations and support citywide Code Enforcement efforts, helping to resolve community issues before they become larger problems. At every step, they serve as a bridge between the public and the department—responsive, professional, and mission-driven.

Prepared for the Unexpected
The Emergency Services Coordinator (ESC) is responsible for managing the department’s emergency preparedness strategy through the Azusa Office of Emergency Management. In the event of a major incident or natural disaster, the ESC activates the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), coordinating response efforts with regional partners to protect lives and property.
From routine training exercises to large-scale event planning, the ESC plays a vital role in making sure Azusa is ready to respond, recover, and rebuild—no matter what challenges arise.
