Ride-along & Sit-along Programs

Ride-Along Program
The Azusa Police Department encourages community members to participate in the Ride-Along Program, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at daily patrol operations. Participants ride with on-duty officers and observe how they respond to calls, conduct traffic enforcement, and interact with the public.
To qualify for the program, you must:
- Be a resident, student, applicant, or employee in the City of Azusa
- Be at least 16 years old (with parent or guardian signature if under 18)
- Have no criminal record
- Have no medical restrictions that would pose a safety concern
- Arrive in clean, neat appearance (casual attire is acceptable)
Ride-alongs are limited to once every six months per applicant. All participants are subject to a background check and final approval by department supervisors. Participation may be denied or canceled at any time.

Dispatch Sit-Along Program
For those interested in law enforcement communications, the Sit-Along Program offers the chance to observe the Azusa Police Department’s dispatch center in action. Participants shadow professional dispatchers and gain insight into emergency response coordination, radio procedures, and community assistance.
To qualify for the program, you must:
- Be a resident, student, applicant, or employee in the City of Azusa
- Be at least 16 years old (with parent or guardian signature if under 18)
- Have no criminal record
- Have no medical restrictions that would pose a safety concern
- Arrive in clean, neat appearance (casual attire is acceptable)
As with ride-alongs, sit-alongs are limited to once every six months. All participants are screened and approved in advance by the department and may be denied participation at any time.
